ITWeek: Handy-sized Q1 needs more power
We found the Q1 somewhat sluggish and slow to respond to user input compared with other Windows PCs. This perception was borne out by a low Business Winstone 2004 benchmark score of 10.3. However, our review unit had a 900MHz ultra-low voltage Celeron M chip. Other models use a Pentium M up to 1.2GHz and may perform better. The 512MB memory cannot be upgraded by users, and the device comes with either a 40GB or 60GB hard drive.The Q1 ran for just two hours and 23 minutes in our battery life tests, suggesting users will typically see about three hours, though the time will vary depending on how much they use the wireless LAN. An optional extended battery should last about six hours, while an external Power Pack will provide up to nine hours and also recharge the Q1’s internal battery, Samsung said.
